Sept/Oct ... Small Group Instruction & Private Lessons

Our basketball mini camps this summer at either Warren or Chimney Rock Park have ended. We had an outstanding 8-week run and our strong participation at two different sites was great to see. Kids and coaches need to be in-person together working on their basketball skills. Hopefully we can get back to regular in-person schooling. Getting these kids outside and running around and having a blast was fun to see as well. Thanks again for participating this summer!!
***We had Coach Shellhammer from the NJ Panthers AAU program as a special guest coach at Chimney Rock Park last Friday, August 21. Whether it is the Panthers or a different AAU team, we have contact info for these teams and can help if your son or daughter is looking to take the next step and play competitive AAU basketball. Please email Coach Mac if you are looking for any AAU information or suggestions***

September & October Small Group Instruction & Private lessons starting soon 🏀

Many parents have asked about what we could offer in the Fall and small group workouts and private lessons are the options. We would be outdoors of course and the days selected will take the weather into consideration. The days of the week could vary like one week could be Tue/Thu 4-5pm for instance while the following week might be Wed/Fri 5-6pm for example. With both students and teachers going back to school in some way, we have to take those schedules into consideration. Feel free to request certain days that fit your schedule.
Private lessons $40 per hour
Contact Coach Mac ... select a coach to work with ... ask for specific items to be worked on during the lesson ... decide how often to meet

Small group instruction $20 per hour ($30 for a pair of siblings)
These workouts are quick and intense ... serious players are a must ... footwork/ball handling/scoring moves/shooting/1 on 1 play
A private lesson has certain advantages but the small group workouts have a way of pushing kids to go faster and work harder to keep up with the other players in the drill.
  • We have several highly qualified teachers/coaches to choose from:
  • Chris Fox - PE teacher Green Brook Middle School and assistant coach at Hillsborough HS
  • Steve Kline - History/Special Ed teacher at BRHS and our freshman basketball coach
  • Remus deJesus - regular substitute teacher, BRHS JV basketball coach, and AAU coach with NJ Panthers
  • Ryan Shellhammer - head girls coach at Mount Saint Mary Academy and Director of NJ Panthers AAU
  • Jeff Dealaman - History/Special Ed teacher at Watchung Hills and girls basketball varsity assistant
  • Gene McAteer - Business Teacher and head boys basketball coach BRHS. 30 years as summer camp director
COACH SHELLHAMMER ALSO OFFERS PRIVATE GOLF LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND YOU CAN CONTACT HIM DIRECTLY FOR MORE INFORMATION: shellhammerbasketball@gmail.com
Coach Mac is currently taking golf lessons with Coach Shellhammer and it is already helping ... I need all the help I can get! (LOL)
🏀
Here is what a summer camper had to say:
“This camp was such a great way to refresh myself on my skills since I haven’t been able to practice on a court in a long time. All of the coaches were very supportive, encouraging, and assured the other players and I that it is okay to make mistakes. This camp helped me practice skills that I am not very comfortable with, and connected me with possible high school teammates. It was a very welcoming environment and made me excited to come back each day.”

NEW FROM GOV MURPHY: I’m signing an Executive Order to allow contact drills and practices, and competitions, to resume.

Warren Twp -AND- Chimney Rock Park Summer Programs completed ... outdoor and non-contact in JULY and in AUGUST we were allowed games and contact drills ... Please check out the flyers to see our preparation plans!

WHAT IS AN UPGRADE? - NOT AVAILABLE 2020

**A frequent question had to do with what the campers miss while at the advance workout session...

...THEY DO NOT MISS ANY GAMES OR CONTESTS...

... the regular camper will have drill stations or mini lecture skill-work from 10:30-11:45.

The Upgrade is a very intense workout, the upgrade is a camp within the regular basketball camp program. Campers may 'tryout' the upgrade using the daily rates of: $15 per day if already in the full day camp OR $18 per day as an elite camper exclusively.

Campers entering grades 4-9 may choose the weekly upgrade as a stand alone option ($90) OR participate in the regular day camp and add the upgrade ($75) as well.

At 10:30 a.m. every morning, our lead instructor will take the upgrade participants to the back gym for the advanced workout. This will include a ball handling warm-up, a scoring moves segment, video instruction and execution, and finally the upgrade participants will rejoin the regular camp to demonstrate, "show-off" the skills taught that day.

The upgrade program concludes at 11:45 a.m. as the entire camp moves to lunch.

You can view the upgrades and overall camp teaching and instruction from 2016 below. Again, these camp notes were replaced by our new Facebook page in 2017
